This viewpoint offers a view over the parish of Ponta Delgada, municipality of Santa Cruz das Flores. Here operated the main technical facilities of the French Satellite Tracking Station of Flores, more well-known as the French Base of Flores. You can also observe the neighbour island of Corvo, the smallest of the Archipelago. This area is also known by its classification as Protected Area of the Northern Coast Resources Management (LO09).

The parish of Fajãzinha, one of the less peopled parishes of the municipality of Lajes das Flores, is a lava/delta "fajã", whose formation resulted from the advance of a lava flow over the cliff (former limits of the island) and subsequent contact with the seawater.

Rocha dos Bordões corresponds to a columnar /prismatic jointing formed by the slow cooling of a trachybasaltic lava flow during its movement and setting. This cooling, without new flows of lava, makes the contraction caused by the consolidation of the magma to result in faults, mainly in the form of prisms (hexagons).

Here you can observe Pico da Sé (lava dome). This structure results from lava that is viscous and for this reason cannot flow. It accommodates itself in the conduit or lava vent, originating a high form of terrain and steep slopes. In the surrounding terrains, it is still possible to see a considerable number of chimneys and rock formations eroded by the nearby streams (Ribeira da Badanela and Fazenda da Cruz streams).

Located at the side of the road that leads to Pico Alto, this small picnic park can be found next to Gil Perfeito old quarry. It includes two tables and a grill. At this old quarry, it is possible to observe the outcrop of sedimentary rocks.

Mirante viewpoint is located in the parish of Conceição and it offers a panoramic view over the town of Horta and its bay, and the Faial - Pico channel. Pico Alto viewpoint is located, at an altitude of 587 metres, and it is Santa Maria's highest point. It offers a panoramic view over the whole island and allows the observation of different landforms - the western half of the island is lower, flat and yellowy-ochre in colour, while the eastern part is hilly and woody.

Espigão viewpoint, also known as São Lourenço viewpoint, offers a panoramic view over the São Lourenço Bay Protected Area and Management of Resources Area. Here it is possible to contemplate the crystal clear waters of São Lourenço beach, Romeiro islet and the famous vineyards walls inserted into the hillside. The viewpoint has a picnic area at its centre.

This picnic area is located at the Regional Road, in the parish of Feteira. Relatively close, you have the bathing area of Poça da Rainha and Ponta Furada viewpoint.

The picnic zone at Volta de São Lourenço is located between São Lourenço viewpoints number 1 and 2, at the Regional Road that leads to São Lourenço and has facilities such as, a shelter, a table and some benches.

It is located at the Monte da Guia hill, in the parish of Angústias. Monte da Guia is the result of a submarine eruption (tuff cone) with 11 000 years old and is classified as Protected Landscape Area because of its geologic formation, endemic fauna and flora. It has an altitude of 145 metres and is formed by two craters opened to the sea, called Caldeirinhas do Inferno or simply, Caldeirinhas. These craters have a length of 500 metres and a maximum width of 250 metres. Here you can find Nossa Senhora da Guia Chapel, the patron of fishermen and sailors. It is possible to enjoy a panoramic view over Porto Pim Bay and the entire town of Horta, Espalamaca, Pico, São Jorge and all the coastal area, as far as Morro de Castelo Branco. You can also see Monte Queimado, with an altitude of 86 metres, and together with Monte da Guia, they form a SCI (Site of Community Interest).

Located above Praia Formosa, the Macela viewpoint allows you to enjoy one of Santa Maria Island's most appreciated bathing areas, with view to the Southern Coast Protected Area for the Management of Resources. Nossa Senhora da Conceição viewpoint is located at the top of Espalamaca. From this point, you can see the whole bay of Horta, that since 2012 belongs to the club of the most beautiful bays of the world. You also have views of the hills Monte Queimado, Monte da Guia, Monte Carneiro, Monte das Moças, Cabeço Gordo, the three parishes that form Horta town, positioned in an amphitheatre, part of the northern coast, the islands of Pico, São Jorge and in a clear day, Graciosa. You will also see a monument dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, formed by an image sculptured in white marble, with about 28,5 metres and built in 1970 to substitute the previous monument that was destroyed by a hurricane.

Vigia da Baleia viewpoint is located at Ponta do Castelo, on the south-eastern part of the island and offers an outstanding view over Maia Bay, old whaling port and Gonçalo Velho Cabral Lighthouse. Its name comes from the fact that here is located a former whaling lookout. You will find information boards about the whaling history on Santa Maria Island.

The Chafariz de Santo Amaro viewpoint gives us a perspective of the uniqueness of the urban core that welcomes the same name, from where strong notes of the historical connection of its people to shipbuilding and the sea, but also to subsistence agricultural production. In this space it is possible to observe a fountain in laboriously worked stone that constitutes a heritage of great value.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 204m, is located by the Regional Road of Santo António, EN1-1A, parish of Algarvia, municipality of Nordeste. It is also an area for picnics surrounded by different species of plants and flowers, namely anthurium plants, azaleas, camellias and others. There is a parking lot and access for physically disabled people. You can sight the coast, Fajã do Araújo and the parish of Pedreira. It is a great spot for observing the sunrise.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 434 meters, is located by the Regional Road, parish of Mosteiros, municipality of Ponta Delgada. There is a parking lot. From this viewpoint, you can sight the parish of Mosteiros and its islets and Pico de Mafra.

The picnic park of Fontinhas, located in the parish with the same name (EN4-2), invites you to a stop for resting, in an area provided with tables, benches and grills.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 238m, is located at Rua da Carreira, parish of Ginetes, municipality of Ponta Delgada. From this viewpoint, you can sight the lava "fajãs" of Ferraria and Mosteiros and the four islets. There is a parking lot.

The picnic park of Serra do Cume, is located next to the ascent road to Serra do Cume (EN2-1A). It has facilities such as, tables, benches and grills, inviting you to a stop for resting and a picnic. It offers a view over some parishes of Praia da Vitória municipality.

This picnic park, at an altitude of 12m, is located by the Regional Road, parish of Ribeira Chã, municipality of Lagoa. It is an area for picnics with WC facilities, parking lot and access for physically disabled people. You can sight the Vila Franca do Campo Islet, Água D’Alto beach and Caloura.

This picnic park, at an altitude of 183m, is located by the Regional Road, parish of Remédios da Bretanha, municipality of Ponta Delgada. It is a picnic area with parking lot and access for physically disabled people. You can sight the northern coast and Pico da Vara.

This viewpoint, at an altitude 671m, is located at Tronqueira road, parish of Nordeste, municipality of Nordeste. It has an outstanding view of the mountain Serra da Tronqueira, and the hills Pico da Vara and Pico Verde. At this spot, it is possible to observe the "Priôlo" and its habitat, the Laurel Forest.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 417m, is located by the Regional Road EN2-1A, parish of Furnas, municipality of Povoação. You can have a view over Furnas Valley and the surrounding hills. There is access for physically disabled people.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 671m, is located by the Regional Road, parish of Arrifes, municipality of Ponta Delgada. In the foreground, you have a view of Picos volcanic complex, the island's most recent geological area, and in the back the mountain Serra Água de Pau.

The picnic park of Caparica is located in the descent to the parish of Biscoitos. It is a pleasant location for a stop during your visit to Terceira Island. You can find facilities such as tables, benches, grills and toilets.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 319m, is located by the Regional Road EN-1A, parish of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, municipality of Povoação. It is also an area for picnics with WC and parking lot. From this viewpoint, you can sight Lombas da Povoação (hills), surrounding pastures, Ponta do Garajau and the fishing village of Ribeira Quente.

The viewpoint is located in the parish of Feteira - Serretinha (EN1 2A), offering an outstanding panoramic view of Terceira's southern coast, with Cabras islets in the foreground, and Monte Brasil on the right.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of altitude 410m, is located by the Regional Road EN1-1A, parish of Nª Sra. dos Remédios, municipality of Povoação. There is a parking lot and access for physically disabled people. From this viewpoint, you can sight the village of Povoação and its seven "lombas" (hills).

Chanoca viewpoint is located in the parish of S. Bartolomeu dos Regatos (EN1-1A) and in days of good visibility offers a view to the sea and to the islands of S. Jorge and Pico. We recommend you to stop here at the end of the day, when you can enjoy an outstanding sunset.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 172m, is located by the Regional Road, parish of Ajuda da Bretanha, Ponta Delgada. It is also a picnic area with parking lot. From this viewpoint, you can sight the parish of Ajuda da Bretanha and the surrounding region.

This viewpoint is located in the parish of Doze Ribeiras, by the side of the road (EN1-1A). It offers a beautiful view over the northern coast of Terceira and to the sea. In days of good visibility, it is possible to see the islands of São Jorge with Pico behind, and towards the right is the island of Graciosa.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 232m, is located by the Regional Road EN1-1A, parish of Povoação, municipality of Povoação. From this viewpoint, you can sight Lombas da Povoação (hills), Pico dos Bodes and Pico da Vara.

Pico das Sete viewpoint is located at the Regional Road (ER5-2A) and offers a privileged view over some of the south-western coast parishes of Terceira Island. On the left side, it is also possible to see Monte Brasil. In days of good visibility you will be able to see S. Jorge island in front of you, and behind, the top of Pico island. Near the viewpoint, you have the Interpretative Center of Serra de Santa Bárbara and the access road to Terceira's highest point, Serra de Santa Bárbara.

This viewpoint, at an altitude of 340m, is located by the Regional Road, EN2-1A parish of Maia, municipality of Ribeira Grande. It is also an area for picnics with grills and WC facilities. There is a parking lot and access for physically disabled people. From this viewpoint, you have a view over Ponta do Cintrão and the Volcanic Massif of Sete Cidades and Pico da Vara.

Farol da Serreta viewpoint is located in the parish of Serreta and offers a beautiful panorama of the magnificent slopes of the north-western coast of Terceira. With good visibility it is also possible to see Graciosa island.

Raminhos viewpoint is located in the parish with the same name (EN1-1A). It offers a good panorama over the northern coast of Terceira and Graciosa Island. From here, it is possible to see the agricultural fields and the houses of this parish. It has a parking lot. Following a secondary road, you can find a former whaling lookout and a picnic park with WC.

This is one of the most ancient viewpoints of Terceira. From here, you can enjoy the view of the parish named Fontinhas and of the town Praia da Vitória.

Moinhos viewpoint is located in the parish of Quatro Ribeiras, at the Regional Road (EN1-1A). It invites you for a stop to enjoy a great view over the northern coast of Terceira and the bathing area of Quatro Ribeiras.

This viewpoint is located in the south coast of Corvo Island, above the village, with an excellent view to Vila do Corvo, the port and its bay, the Airport and Flores island.

This is a high zone with a view over Lajes das Flores. From here, you can observe the village of Lajes, the surrounding green hills, pastures, and in the background, the well-known rock formation Rocha dos Frades. This type of structure is formed, when there is the filling of a fault with magma that solidifies in depth. In the case of the rock formation of Frades, the involving material eroded, leaving it exposed along the green fields.

At this lookout, it is possible to observe the outstanding beauty of the waterfalls that flow down the slope, to have a glimpse over Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro, Fajãzinha's lava "fajã", Poço da Alagoinha and Monchique islet. It is also worth of note the vast biological heritage, in what concerns endemic plants, such as Scabiosa nitens, Myosotis azorica, Euphrasia azorica, Veronica dabneyi, among others.
